There's some great hiking trails at Barnes Lake in Barnhartvale through the grassy fields and into the forest. We chose the red trail that runs around the eastern extremity which is one of the nicest trails in Kamloops. This hike was 8km overall with 165 metres ascent. To reach the trail head, drive east bound on Barnhartvale Road towards Eagle Point Golf Course and turn right onto Robbins Range Road. There is a small gravel parking lot on the right just past the cattleguard, about 1 km or less from Barnhartvale Road. We saw two white tailed bucks in the forest - a first for us. There is also a large pond at the west side of the park to see.
