We decided to check out some new-to-us trails at Bush Lake today. The snow is receding but there is still plenty of depth on the trails. Parking for the old Bush Lake cross country ski trails is in the pull out just before McConnell Lake Prov Park on Lac le Jeune road. We parked, then walked across the road to the trail head. Following the snowmobile trail straight ahead from the opening in the fence, we came to a small grove of large Douglas fir trees and some piles of cone remnants left by squirrels. Continuing on, we came to Bush Lake itself, then turned towards the Coquihalla highway and followed the trail south. A great discovery was a small group of Tamarack or Larch trees - definitely going back to see these next fall. We were trying out a new GPS trail tracking app called Hunt Stand which was interesting. On our way back we came to a fork in the trail and made the right choice based on the app. A picture of the loop we hiked as shown on the app is included. At one point it indicated we were 879 feet from our starting point - cool!
