This is a nice 5km hike through woods and grasslands above Westsyde with some 200m elevation gain for a bit of a workout. Park at Ida Lane at the sign you see in the picture. Take the trail to the left, not the right which goes over to new houses (we want forest). Follow this trail until you get to the wooden fence/barricade and see the green marker in the picture. We advice using the trail to the right which follows the fence line for a while as the steep parts are easier to go up than they are to go down. The single track trail winds through several gullies before emerging on a a double track. Just before you get to Deep Lake, you'll see a sign for the loop trail pointing to the left. Take this trail (after you've gone down to the lake for a viewing) and follow it through the grasslands as it curves around heading back towards Westsyde. When you come to the same wooden fence/barricade you'll know you're almost there.
