Fresh snow last night was an inspiration for returning to Dogwood Marsh for a snowshoeing adventure today. We parked at the pullout on Lac le Jeune road just north of McConnell Lake Provincial Park and set out to go across the marsh and up the hills. Rena picked a route through the trees, across the logging road and up the hill. We came across a lake (unnamed?) with cattails at one end, then continued further up the hill. Finally came to a rock cliff which we had never seen before. We went around the side of it then atop of it for a nice long distance view of the area. Communications towers on the 3 hills near Lodgepole Lake were visible in the distance. It was our first time using the GAIA GPS app which tracked our path very well but not exactly - we returned on exactly the same trail but it showed us off trail in several places. Still a very worthwhile hiking app.
