Looking for a 90 minute, 5 km hike on a wide, easy trail with creek nearby? This is a good one, particularly when there's some spring runoff underway as there are many creek view and access points along the way. It's a 5.5km past the Kamloops Golf Course to the parking area, passing over the CN rail tracks on the way. Keep going past the end of the asphalt road, and take a right turn onto a smaller dirt road before you get to the bridge over Tranquille creek ('river'). Once on the dirt road, you can park cars at the first little pullout on the right, or continue on over the rougher pot holes at the next pullout. During run off there is a short stretch of the trail where water runs across it from a pond, so boots are a good idea to avoid wet feet.

At the 1km point you come to a covered table area. At the 2km point you come to an old water intake building. If you want to venture past this point there are 2 smaller trails continuing on - take the one on the right to go another 0.5km to a steep slope up for a view looking down on the creek and up at some cliffs.

You can see in the picture above where Tranquille-Criss Creek (Red Lake Road) crosses over the river - the parking area is just before this on the right. The grey line across the map is the CN rail track.
